Re: Camp Prices?

Many variables of course . Our camp is on a lease from the State . $150.00 to join and $135.00 per year which includes 3 days of meals for rifle season. I waited 20 years to get in but worth it . Have to hunt as a guest first I guess to see if you are safe and ethical . Other camps members have ownership , but ours is an old CCC camp .

Enjoy each day afield as if it were your last.....take the time to take it all in !

Re: Camp Prices?

I'd say many variables is an understatement. PA is one of the least camping and lease joining state of non owners. If you don't own it there is little advantage, for many, in joining or having an outsider joining.
That's caused by how much free land that is available for hunting. There are 1.5 million acres of PGC gamelands, 2.2 million acres of forest land and additional acres of huntable parks.
Costs would increase the closer the camp is to big city areas like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. That comes down to supply and demand. In areas of PA's much free land the prices would be reduced. If you join only to hunt in most areas of PA, prices would be low. Cheaper than staying at a local small motel for a week, especially if you don't hunt the camp land.

In some states where there is relatively little public land, hunting leases are getting a price over $1000 a year. Everything is relative. And that's my opinion.

Re: Camp Prices?

yearly dues $200. Missed work weekend $100 (two weekends a year).

One thing to consider about initiation fee and annual dues, I've seen a situation where the dues are so low, that there are members that will pay the $50 a year indefinitely, but not do the work weekends, contribute, etc.

Re: Camp Prices?

$600 to join and that actually makes you a part owner. $120 annual dues. Number of members and method for joining is limited in by-laws. Cabin is on 6 acres and walking distance to large SGL.

I miss my hunting partner

Re: Camp Prices?

I don't know very many people with camps that don't own their camps outright.

I do....

but I did charge guys a fee to help out with taxes, electric, propane. That is ending this year though
to many issues with silly stuff...
Some guys not wanting to hunt as hard as others
Some guys wanting their hand held to find spots
some guys not wanting to help out with chores
some guys are just cheap cheap cheap and that just doesn't fly

Id rather spend the money myself and have less headache while I hunt
So it will be all family or very close family friends from now on
