pole barn for camp?

What do you guys think of a pole barn for a camp? I originally was going to go with a pre built cabin but after looking at prices of both in similar size i started leaning towards a pole barn. I was going to lay laminate down over concrete floor and build a loft and try and finish with maybe tounge and groove pine boards. Has anyone seen a pole barn for a camp before?

Check with Pioneer Pole Buildings...I'm sure they could hook you up. We love our PPB garage.

How would you insulate it? I would think you would have to spray foam it or you would have to frame interior walls for fiberglass insulation batts.

Ever think of having the Amish build your shell, loft, built on pilings?
Might be less expensive!

Re: pole barn for camp?

That spray on insulation for pole barns is great stuff, no condensation on metal roof etc....you will need fan(s) to push hot air down, depending on your square footage might need a big wood stove. Leave the entryway concrete or waterproof floor muddy boots wet clothes etc...guy put what you said with a couple stainless tanks for water, one has heaters in it with a shower stall partitioned off and a John too. Big slop sink and stove on one wall, fridge etc.

Amish will give a good price, shop around....

Re: pole barn for camp?

You should put 2" insulation under concrete before pouring floor. Did this to a pig barn worked better than esp. Well worth the money especially around perimeter. Good Luck

Re: pole barn for camp?

Would think it would be a good idea except for the floor any plumbing, wiring and the chill would be my concerns. But the structure would be sound.

Forest county got to love it!

Re: pole barn for camp?

pole barn sounds like a good idea, could even partition it off and leave some for equipment storage, etc.

may want to think about radiant heat in the concrete floor

Re: pole barn for camp?

Thanks guys I actually thought about the spray insulation also I hear a lot of good things about it. The cold concrete floor was a worry of mine also I have to sit and shop around and see what is the best way to go if like to get it done by end of summer
