Setting up Dish at camp?

I have Dish at home. I got an extra Dish satellite from my neighbor. Can I install that dish at camp and just take a box from home to use at camp? Any and all helpful information on this would be great.

Re: Setting up Dish at camp?

I had the Direct TV contractor set it up for a small pocket fee . I used my own extra dish and bring up mother in laws box . Works great !!
I did set one up at my campground . It was a lot of work but finally found a signal ! Good Luck

We have diect tv and it works not sure about dish net. I think the dishes have to be the same type to work with the boxes, so if you have high def it needs the high def dish.

The box I have is HD, but my camp satellite doesn't say it in it. However, none of my tvs at home are HD and they work, but camp's tv is so maybe I'll just get lucky.

Yes. It will work. I bought an extra dish on craigslist. However, depending on how far camp is away from home, you will not get any local channels. I have an extra box that I leave at camp. I turn the power off to the trailer when I leave, so the box doesn't update. I always have to call into the provider to get them to shoot a signal to the box to get her working.

Re: Setting up Dish at camp?

I just tried to set one up at my camp. Couldn't get a signal finally called direct tv gonna have them do it. Maybe if it was a little warmer and I could find some patience laying around I would have got it. But every day I tried it was below 20 so I gave up.

Re: Setting up Dish at camp?

I just pay for direct tv at my place monthly. I suspend the service over the winter months when we aren't using the place as often. I just think it's funny that guys will get on this site and want to hang a guy for trespassing, or breaking a game law, but think it's ok to steal cable, Kinda double standard don't ya think? And if you don't think it's stealing just call your dish provider and ask them.

Re: Setting up Dish at camp?

If you put the zip code of your camp into the setup menu it will tell you what compass direction to point the dish. If using your dish at different locations is stealing, why did Dish sell me a portable dish that automatically locks on top the signal when it is turned on?

Re: Setting up Dish at camp?

Washington archer Hows it stealing ? You rent the box for a monthly fee correct? Can you only drive a rental car to your house but no where else?
