seeking the impossible

After moving to the lehigh valley and hunting for a few years on gamelands I've decided that I MUST find some access to private land. I've been successful but have had plenty of problems in crowded places. Frustration has set in....

I'm seeking a camp or to go in on a lease in Lehigh, Berks, Montgomery, upper bucks, or Northampton county.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: seeking the impossible

You may need to spread your distance a little bit. Just north of Lehigh county on route 309 is a club that owns over 100 acres and some of it borders the SGL. Not sure if they are taking new members but that's one. Another is further north in the center of Schuylkill county on Broad mountain and a club there is taking new members. Outside of Hamburg on route 61 is a pretty nice stretch of SGL that is open but again, you're on game lands. Lehigh county is a tough area to hunt and get on some promising property. Some years ago, there was an accidental shooting while a hunter was chuck hunting and that closed the doors to a lot of areas that farmers owned.
Good luck on your search.

Re: seeking the impossible

I agree with having to find a camp but it seems to be impossible to happen.I find it interesting how you read about camps not filling up for deer season or bear season but spots never seem to open up to new blood or the younger hunter to join in with a group of experienced hunters to pass it along....I guess it goes back to the old timers not wanting to step down or it's all family run.Just my two cents...

Re: seeking the impossible

Mostly all of our newer members are introduced by a current member.
At least that member knows the fella and what he is about.
Some clubs don't want to bring in a complete stranger.
Our club has considered this in the past but not always feasible to try to coordinate with all the members and a possible new member to meet and get voted in.
Also trying to get with a said new member at camp to give the run down on opening and closing procedures.
