Deer camp - Do you share the meat ?

My buddies deer camp has a policy that any deer taken shares the meat with all members who were in camp for the hunt. Sometimes meat is saved for work party weekends meals.

What say ye?

I wouldn't think of even of something like that! I'm not sharing my deer with a bunch of bums that stayed up drinking all night and can barely see to walk let alone shoot. it would be go scrub I worked for it not you

if you bought it, a trucker brought it

Our camp it's whoever shot the deer they can do whatever they want with it. Over the years some of us have shared meat but it's not mandatory.

I can understand voluntarily offering some to members that maybe helped you drag etc. Now if you have 10 members and 1 guy actually hunts but has to share the meat that's not right.

Re: Deer camp - Do you share the meat ?

I am too young to have been a part of this, but at our camp meat was shared during the 40's through 70's. Almost all hunting was done by driving, so when a deer was killed it was through a group effort. The harvests were usually pretty large, so everyone got a good bit of meat for their efforts.

We don't do anything like that at my camp. The only thing that we do is the first person to kill a deer "donates" the tenderloins to a camp meal sometime during the week.
