State land deer hunting

Due to some health issue with my better half, I wont be going to my buddies camp in potter, just to far of a ride ,51/2 hr. If all goes well maybe still go, only if she gets better, but it will be closer to home, nj. Im looking at ricketts state park, hickory run and tuscarora state parks. All look like 21/2 hr drive. I like the big woods style, less orange army type of guy. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, or any camps that provide me to stay a day or two for a fee. Thanks again

Re: State land deer hunting

Until last year I've only ever hunted state land. The best advice I can give is don't be lazy. Most hunters are lazy this gives an advantage to those who are willing to hike a mile or more in or climb that steep hill, yes if you get one the drag [censored], but just take your time and you'll get it done. The other thing that I have notice is that most hunters get cold/hungry between 11am and 1pm and start moving around and making noise. If you can suck it up and stay put and quiet a lot of times they will push them around for you.

If an inline is just like a flintlock why don't you get a flintlock so you can hunt more seasons?

Steve is right these game lands are big.
Bring good Boots, the terrain is rough in some areas.
You may want to look into the Pocono area game lands also, a bit closer.
Not sure of the # but right off the Pocono exit on I 80 is a game lands.
