Question

I'm interested in buying or building a camp in a very remote area of Pennsylvania, Any suggestions on where I should be looking?

Re: Question

let me know where you find a real remote area that's not state or national forest.

I'm so far behind I think I'm in first place.

Re: Question

Your best bet would be in the Northern Tier.

Re: Question

Plenty of spots like that. Tioga county would be a good bet, as well as Sullivan county. Try sites like Zillow or Realtor.com. Plug in what you are looking for, make some popcorn grab a beer and get comfortable, there will be so many it will take some time to browse them. The Real estate market is dead, its a buyers market, no better time than now.

With all the drilling going on, you can even eliminate the ANF as being remote. You can hardly walk a half mile, even less, in most spots without hitting a road. It is not longer the Allegheny National Forestů.just the Allegheny National oil and gas field.

Re: Question

JTL is correct, a lot of places for sale up here, but the price is up due to gas and oil activity. You may want to change your requirements from "remote" to "secluded".

Re: Question

Do some research, not sure about Sullivan county but Tioga I believe has double the population of Potter.
Somewhere in the range of Potter 19,500
Tioga 38,400 and that was before the gas drilling invasion.

I totally agree. They have scarred, mulled and ruined the wildness and beauty of the ANF. It's disgusting really.
