Electric ?? TriCounty

So our camp near Odin In Potter needs the boards replaced that the electric meters are mounted to. I tried calling and emailed Tri County electric to inquire on having the power shut off so I can replace the boards but have gotten no response either way. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations, number to call? Not sure what all they will require permits, inspection etc. thanks

Did you call the Coudersport office at (814) 274-8740?

Iím a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.

Re: Electric ?? TriCounty

They will need the customer number to access the location, as they should have the info on record at the office. No idea why they wouldn't have responded IF the correct number was called?

Service for my camp comes from Tri-County's Westfield location, but I have to call the office in Mansfield for power problems, like the fuse blown at the transformer from tree rats poppin' them off.

The last time that happened was the Friday after Thanksgiving, when I got to camp for deer season. They were there within a half hour of me calling them, to reconnect.

BTW, pulling the meter only disconnects the building's electric panel from power, as the lugs on the supply side of the meter base will still be hot.

Did you get a hold of somebody when you called? Here's the numbers for the main office in Mansfield, 570-662-2175 or 1-800-343-2559. They should be able to direct you to your local office. They're open 7:30-4:00 M-F.

I'm with Denny on this one, never had anything but good customer service from Tri-County REC.

Re: Electric ?? TriCounty

If you schedule them to come out to disconnect the service at the transformer AND have everything ready to remove the meter base and install a new mounting surface - they might stick around and re-energize when you're done? Shouldn't take long to make a new mounting surface?

They'll probably pull the meter for you so's ya can proceed with the repairs and pop it back in again, once the base has been put back up?

I've done such things myself when I still did electrical work, but it's a tad hairy working in a meter base with hot lugs. Usually just stuck a big wad of duct seal over the hot lugs and proceeded very carefully, but it's much safer to have the service temporarily disconnected.

Best wishes. As Lugnut noted, Tri-County has always been up to snuff in my dealings with them over the past 40+ years. When I switched from our original mobile home service box on the pole (originally had a travel trailer there), to a 100A service on the cabin years ago, they were johnny on the spot.

Yep do some electrical myself and never work live unless I have to and this I don't have to. Sounds like I should have no issue now that I have correct contact info.
