Where's the Perry Co. guys?

I haven't heard anything lately from anyone with a camp in Perry Co. I finally made it over to the Blain Hotel to eat since it reopened. My wife and I went over for breakfast a couple of weeks ago. The food was really good, but the prices are a little high. I was at camp Father's Day weekend and went out spotting deer. Saw a good many, and a few buck with racks up about 6 inches. Planning on going up on the 4th of July to do some cleaning and a few other chores.

If you could only imagine the overhead a restaurant has to deal with you would understand why prices are a little high..Many times it turns out to be a losing proposition...

I'd rather pay a little more and have it be good then pay a little less and have it be bad.

Itís funny until somebody gets hurt, then itís hilarious

Re: Where's the Perry Co. guys?

Thanks for the update, YH. Always great to get a report from Perry Co. camps. I agree, no trip to camp is complete without at least one stop for a meal at the Blaine hotel. Great to see that it's up and going again.
I won't be up to camp until this fall; so how about some reports from those of you that make it up to camp over July 4th.

Was up this weekend in the blain/Loysville area. Excellent weather and got some nice trails made. Looking forward to checking cameras in a week or two

Re: Where's the Perry Co. guys?

Haven't been to camp since muzzleloader season. Been busy at work, and now closing on a house in Waretown, NJ on a lagoon. Been out fishing in the salt all summer. Planning first trip to the cabin, will probably be for bear. weasel65, another HPAer has a cabin just outside of fowler's hollow. I haven't been to the Blain hotel, we will stop there this year. We have gone to the Route 74 restaurante, not a special place, just a local place with ok food. We were going to Shippensburg, where there was a great place to eat, that has since closed. Places to eat are becoming harder to find in Perry.

treys dad - are you referring to Ship Wreck in Shippensburg? That's quite a hike from Perry County! I guess the college girls working there may factor in a bit as well...

Re: Where's the Perry Co. guys?

Hi everyone. its been a while since I posted. One of my favorite things to do is get to camp and get everything put away and make a fire in the wood stove. Then we drive back to Blain and shop at Books market and get extra sharp wheel cheese, garlic bologna, hot peppers, crackers and whatever else we feel like. Then we get a couple subs from the pizza shop next door, they are really good. Then back to camp, and when we walk back in the door everything is warmed up and we are ready to stuff ourselves. I love the Tuscarora, it is such a great place to hunt, hike and just be in the outdoors.

Don't get mad and throw a baseball against a concrete wall. It comes back and doesn't feel good.

Re: Where's the Perry Co. guys?

I was up at my cabin in Perry this weekend. My wife and I and another couple were there just to relax. I didn't even take my bow. We went to Heritage Days at Blain on Saturday. It was a lot of people there. We had a great time. Ate a lot of good food. Went spotting deer on Saturday evening , saw a good number of deer. Took a hike on Sunday and saw a few more deer. Hated to come home on Sunday. I'll be back up in two week for the last two days of Youth hunt/muzzle loader season.
