Hot Water Setup

I have to get a new Zodi as it got clogged with some dirt. Prior to resetting it, I would like to see (please post pics if you have them) how some of you guys have your set your hot water up. I do not have electric and the water is gravity feed so if you have info on that specific type of setup that would be great.
Thanks for your input.

Re: Hot Water Setup

Squeaks,
Do you run your camp of a generator? If so, you can easily put an "RV" set up in your camp... You have to make sure your generator can take the electric loads. We used:

1. 115V Surflo Water Pump with small pressure tank - From Amazon.com

2. 115V Hot Water Heater - 12 gallon tank from Lowe's

3. Water Holding Tanks. - 55 gallon drums

4. Pex Plumbing lines and hook ups. - from Lowe's

It's a lot easier to do then you think... We put the system in about 5 hours of work. There are plenty of schematics on line to help you put it together. If you have any questions, let me know...

Don't over think it... it's pretty cut and dry.

Hope this helps!

Re: Hot Water Setup

Someone else I know has a big aquarium heater running in a 55 gallon drum for his "hot" water. He says it doesn't actually get hot but it gets warm enough to take a shower with. Of course, electricity would be necessary.

Pex is the way to go for the plumbing.

Re: Hot Water Setup

All the water lines are done in pex. Just trying to not recreate the wheel. Plus I need something that can be drained easily.
Thanks so far and keep the ideas coming!!!

Re: Hot Water Setup

I have a 40 gallon hot water tank given to me by a friend. It's really way bigger than I need. I just drilled a hole in the floor and ran a hose through it to the underside of the camp. When I close up for winter, I just open the valve on the tank and let it drain. Couldn't be any easier.

Re: Hot Water Setup

I pump water from the spring into a 35 gallon trash can. It has a sump pump from there, garden hose to the tankless propane water heater. I also use the water to wash the dishes. I use it all year long. I pull the pump and dump the trash can when I leave.

Bucksnort1
What type of gas heater do you have? Brand and Model? Also do you have to blow it out or does it drain itself? Is it ventless?
Thanks...

Re: Hot Water Setup

Marey RV/Camper Mini Portable Propane Gas Tankless Water Heater 2.0 GPM. I got it off of Ebay. It pretty much drains itself. I hook it up to a 20 lb gas tank.
