Moshannon PA Camp

Going to look at a camp in Moshannon on Sunday. It's located on Pine Glen Road which is also Route 879 I believe. Just wondering if anyone else has a camp nearby and if so how do you like the area.

A promise made is a debt unpaid.

Re: Moshannon PA Camp

I have a place in Moshannon. My family was from this area. A lot of public ground out on Rt 144, big woods. Trout fishing is good, bear and turkey are also in good supply. Deer, however, are scarce, nothing like the hunting of years ago. I deer hunt in western Pa.

It's a good area as far as hunting and fishing go........plenty of deer around, you just have to find them

I appreciate the response. My family is from Philipsburg/Osceola. I mainly hunt SGL 33 for deer so the drive would be about 30 min (mapquest). Any grouse in the area??

Some, not a lot.....you have to find them though as they are in pockets here and there....

There is a nice SGL down in Pine Glen also, as well as a few others between Pine Glen and Philipsburg.....

My wife's family has a camp in the area. I see quite a few grouse actually, in the typical spots. I would echo the previous info. Seems to be quite a few turkeys and bear. Deer not so much, but I have seen some pretty good bucks...Great area if you like to roam.

Re: Moshannon PA Camp

I live in the SGL 33 area but traveled to Quehanna for 8 years. Saw lots of wildlife during my ride. Saw some really nice bucks on the ride to and from work and also on vehicles during the season. If by chance you are into rattlesnakes you sure picked a hotspot.

Re: Moshannon PA Camp

Our camp borders SGL 33 souheast of Philipsburg we really like the area. Plenty of turkeys and grouse. The deer are there also but like was already said not like it was when firearms doe was 3 days. Plenty of ground to cover too I have roamed most of the front from Sandy Ridge to Snow Shoe and then some. Good fishing also.
