Building Wild..National Geo Channel

I am really liking this show, (along with Meat-eater and Survivorman) . Anyway "Building Wild" builds cabins way back in the woods (WATCH IT!!), really got me motivated to fix up the old log place on the property we all know and love. Eventhough we put in the new place by the road with more comforts, someone really busted hump to build the old place at one time and I mean they did it in the middle of nowhere, living with the critters at 1850 feet, access is a washed out all uphill ATV trail a mile from the road.

2014 needed another project, LOL..I think i just found it.

Yep TD the camp forum avatar.

It was tough to invite folks up to the camp if they did not have a wheeler, so for those functions the new place came to light. We only stayed overnight up there twice, ate lunch there a few times, got out of the rain a time or two...the big issue is everytime we open the door of the place seems like we got to kill or chase something out of it. Last year it was the wasps EVERYWHERE.

Critter control is 85% of the battle ahead.

Re: Building Wild..National Geo Channel

Just discovered building wild the other day and watched 5or 6 episodes that were on demand. Really like the show, some really neat ideas they come up with and awesome looking camps.

Yep, pretty good show
They have some imaginative camps built.
Wondering what it would cost to have one built?
The dreamer is from PA, The other guy is from upstate New York

Neighbor's camp is a couple of shipping containers. Always looked pretty cold in deer season.

Re: Building Wild..National Geo Channel

That one turned out pretty cool, the one with the nice log cabin that they attached the school bus too..I am not sure I liked that idea, I mean the school bus certainly is a camp icon and provides sleeping quarters but that was a pretty nice looking camp without it.

The excavator guy i could see in deer camp, the guy from extreme home makeover probably not. While sitting around the campfire the excavator told the guy he had 5 camps. You can see the deer camp influence in him, least the old deer camp culture of "what the heck do we need that for".
