Animal Rights Activists Win Another One

http://www.aspca.org/Blog/knf-decision?u...LOG.HUNTER.3712

Thanks to the efforts of the ASPCA and other advocates in Louisiana, the U.S. Forest Service decided to prohibit the use of dogs to hunt deer in Louisiana’s Kisatchie National Forest (KNF). We’d like to thank our supporters in Louisiana who contacted the Forest Service on this issue, and we commend Chief Tom Tidwell of the U.S. Forest Service for this decision to help protect Louisiana’s dogs.

The Kisatchie National Forest is Louisiana’s only national forest, spanning over 600,000 acres across the central part of the state. In the past, KNF has allowed hunters to use dogs while hunting for deer. This policy proved disastrous for many of the dogs involved in these hunts. We received multiple reports of dogs being left behind in the forest to fend for themselves or being hit by speeding vehicles trying to keep up with the pace of the hunt. Lost, forgotten, or abandoned dogs were forced to beg for food from surrounding landowners, kill wildlife to survive, or starve to death.

Every one they win is a win against all hunting and a loss for all sportsmen.

I believe with enough presure from Congressmen and Senators they would overturn that stupid decision, that is where their funding comes from. However, it will take sportsmen from all states to contact their Pols to start the presure.

The first thing that needs done is for those same Rep's and senators to repeal the law that has us paying for the Eco-freaks lawsuits. Yep - you ad me pay for this stuff with our taxes.

Then they can take on the decision with new legislation.

But, even our sportsmen oriented republicans will not take on these decisions. though they sure like to go through the motions with hearings. Otherwise called grandstanding for the folks back home.

Case in point. Hatteras and the piping plovers. The original law passed by congress establishing the court forbid the action and decision of the court. But it happened. However, with a simple change i the authorizing legislation, former practices could be restored.

Then again, the Eco's would file another suit for us to pay for..

As the world turns.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

There is a bill in Ct I think that makes trapping illegal within 1500 feet of a school. They claim trapping poses a danger to our children.

How many of you have ever caught a small child in a trap?
