thumbs up to VA

Read an article that VA passed a law requiring non hunting license holders to buy a permit to use sporting lands purchased with hunting license dollars. IF only PA would follow suit.

Open up a big can of worms doing that. Make then pay then they will want a say in what happens on them. Leave things the way they are.

Re: thumbs up to VA

You want to be careful what you ask for, all citizens now have the right to petition the PGC on matters pertaining to state game lands. Once they are forced to pay a fee to hike, bird watch, bike etc., they will expect more of a say in how things are run and they will be a lot more demanding than they are at present. The only thing we have to protect game lands from state government allowing things to be done that are counter productive to hunting is the fact that federal PR monies were spent on game lands and under the provisions of recieving federal money it says nothing can be done and no money may be spent to enhance or create anything that is not directly related to hunting.

Re: thumbs up to VA

Maybe, but on gamelands I hunt non hunters act like they rule the roost already. I don't see any problems with them adding to the fund and potential of gaining more lands

You want to see it get worse, charge them a fee and make them more demanding.

Now this is just my observation but personally I don't think it can get much worse. How much worse can it get then me having to abandon good spots because of non hunter interference. Seems like endgame to me.

Re: thumbs up to VA

Virgnia also required hunters to buy deer damage stamps in some counties, stamps to hunt National Forests, and (compared to PA) has little land purchased with hunting license dollars.
