HB 2072 - HTE In Schools

Rep Maloney, author and prime sponsor of the Indepentdent Regulatory Review Commission of GC and PFBC oversight bill, had a sweetener in the first bill.

In HB 2072 he proposes it as an independent bill.

Re: HB 2072 - HTE In Schools

It is important to note:

I strongly oppose the IRRC bills to place the GC and PFBC under IRRC review and control. Short sighted and potentially very harmful to sportsmen.

However, I support this bill as it is the exact opposite.

It is important for folks to separate issues. Look at the bill, not the legislator or party affiliation where hunting, fishing, or other outdoor issues are concerned. party affiliation or support of any one bill is not now a clear indication to support or not support anything.

Each bill stands on its own. If we don't do that - we lose.

This bill is in the House F&G Committee.

Surprised that it is not in the Education Committee as it mandates school districts to do something. But is an addition to the Game Code (Title 34).

It is also very important that we watch to ensure the IRRC language is not added to this bill in the future if it gets no support in the State Government Committee.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

The problem will be finding instructors

Yep, but remember, it is one HTE class in a school within the district per year. Not every school in the district.

That helps.

I will keep an eye on this to see where it goes. If needed, I can rally troops to fill any volunteer positions needed in my school district.

I took my class at school in the early 80's and loved it!

Better to contact you r Rep and make sure it goes somewhere.

If I recall the House F&G has a meeting tomorrow. This might be taken up.

A unamended bill gets support. A amended bill with the IRRC language is a no go.
