NRA Alert

Vote on Amendments Attacking Pennsylvania’s Sporting Tradition Postponed to Tuesday, December 13!

Thursday, December 08, 2011

Please Continue Contact Your State Representative!

Yesterday, animal “rights" lobbyists and activists converged on Harrisburg in support of Representative Maher’s amendments to Senate Bill 71. Due to your telephone calls and e-mails, the scheduled vote was postponed to Tuesday, December 13.

As you may recall from yesterday’s alert, these amendments would put an end to organized bird shoots in Pennsylvania. This long-standing shooting sport, practiced for over a hundred years, boasts esteemed historical participants like President Theodore Roosevelt, Annie Oakley and Ernest Hemingway.

Please continue to call AND e-mail your state Representative and urge him or her to protect Pennsylvania’s sporting tradition and vote AGAINST the Maher amendments to Senate Bill 71. For help identifying your state Representative and their contact information, please click here.

Don’t forget to forward this alert to your family, friends and fellow supporters of Pennsylvania’s sporting tradition. Urge them to also call their state Representative to help put a stop to animal “rights” activists because they won’t stop until all sporting traditions have been banned in Pennsylvania.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Re: NRA Alert

John Maher, Republican,

Just supports my previous post that where sportsmens issues are concerned, party affiliation means nothing. No one party is a lock on sportsmens issues.

If so, why would a Republican be in lock step with a radical animal rights group?

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

Re: NRA Alert

Everyone needs to make contact on this one.

Oppose the amendments. On the calendar for Wednesday.

These are Humane Society US amendments to a bill on greyhound racing (outlawing).

Make no mistake, these amendments are so losly written, shooting preserves will be challenged if they pass. That means a court decision. No sportsmen input on those.

We can not provide the opening for the challenges to come if this passes.

This is a sportsmen’s bill to lose. That loss with potential very harmful repercussions.
