PGC budget shortfall

Can anyone give me a reference to what the PGC budget shortfall actually is? I am doing a speech in school, proposing the sale of a sunday hunting license which would help cover the budget, and also assist in paying for additional costs associated with adding an additional day for families to spend afield. Any help would be appreciated.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: PGC budget shortfall

I don't believe that there is currently a budget short fall, as the Commission has a surplus each year. But that is due to strict budget management, and not filling positions, and reduction of certain programs.

Re: PGC budget shortfall

Correct, no shortfall. They, by law can not run a defeict.

Second, any license created needs to be legislated. The legislature would need to propose a bill, have it pass both houses and be signed by the Gov.

If you want budget figures, go to the Annual report thread top of this forum.

Also - the surplus really isn't a surplus. it is the operating costs saved back until license sales resume later the following year.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.
