Rep. wants IRRC review of PGC

http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/...io.cfm?id=1226

Rep. Dave Maloney is working to require an Independant Regulatory Review Commission (IRRC) review of the game commission, in response to what he says is PGC's management of deer numbers below that which satisfies hunters.

News link to follow, as it is not posted on the web yet.

I see USP's Levengood and Santucci are already on board with the idea.

Re: Rep. wants IRRC review of PGC

How funny. We just had one. How many tax dollars is he wanting to waste just because he, Santucci and Levengood can't find deer?

I've been with people hunting, and have pointed out as many as five deer under a pine. The people I was with just couldn't see them even after standing there for about ten minutes at 70 yards until the deer got up and they saw the flags of the tails as the deer took the escape route.

Maybe we ought to ask for an IRRC of their optometrist.

LOL, it's only a small fraction of the huge windfall of $800,000,000.00 there will be to play with if SH passes,...

Just sayin'

Lets see- more than 300K deer have been harvested every year for how long? And we don't have enough deer?

As I said, we need an IIRC of the optometrists in the state before we need another IIRC of the PGC.

Do you have some insider information from a reputable firm that has done a study and come up with reasons to dispute that number?

More like an attempt for USP and ACSL to get Eveland his expose' out there. More sour grapes and Jimmying the system to accomplish personal goals.

I am still waiting to find out what actual degree Eveland has. Amazingly, after all this time - no one knows.

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

All members of the General Assembly that sign on to this bill should also foot the bill from their salaries.

Enough is enough of wasting tax payers dollars.

Re: Rep. wants IRRC review of PGC

There is a good reason the PGC does not have to go through the IRRC process. This is a perfct example of legislators tryng to change the rules to satisfy constituents in order to get votes. The deer management program was reviewed recently by a group who forgot more about deer and wildlife management than the entire IRRC committee and legislature combined knows or ever knew, and with a few recommendations they progeram passed muster. Just more wastng tax dollars panderng for votes.

Re: Rep. wants IRRC review of PGC

I am not going to get into a long winded debate, I definitely do not agree with most on this board on this issue. But I will agree with Maloney. As I've said before, biology is but one factor in management, and we have been driven almost extensively by it in the last decade. We aren't the only state to do so, and each and every one of those states have the same hunter dissatisfaction. We cannot continue to lose hunters. That is a fact. Unfortunately, the direction we are heading will ensure that. We need the oversight, IMO. Not that it matters, but my emails have been sent asking for this very thing.
