Sunday hunting latest developments?

Can we start a post here for latest developments only? I like to read everyones opinion, but the actual current status of the Sunday Hunting bill gets lost in everyone posting their opinion.

So where does it stand? When is it to be voted on? Where do current representative stand? Etc... Is it being covered on the news in your part of the state?

Re: Sunday hunting latest developments?

Keystone Trails Association and the Pennsylvania Equine Council have agreed to work with the legislature.

PA Farm Bureau said at least one county (I heard 3) wrote a resolution in support of Sunday Hunting and giving regulatory authority to the PGC.

Their meeting is next week, and hopefully they agree to compromise.

The pro-Sunday hunting side is willing to make concessions to the PFB; provided there is give and take.

The legislature has delayed the vote until after the PFB meeting.

They should go into their meeting knowing US Sportsman's Alliance will be providing "No Sunday Hunting" signs free of charge to anyone who wants them.

The trespass bill has passed the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee, and is waiting amendments so the farm bureau can get wording in that will fit their specifications. I don't see anyone objecting to the amendments that might be offered from the pro-side.

As of now, its a waiting game.

Re: Sunday hunting latest developments?

Thanks for the update. Best guess when a decision might be made or atleast approved and PGC given control or denied altogether? Weeks, months, next year?

Re: Sunday hunting latest developments?

Well the legislature is about to adjourn for the year so IMHO there won't be much activity on anything until next year.

Re: Sunday hunting latest developments?

They go until the 14th of December according to their calendar; so there is still plenty of time.

If both sides agree, I see final passage before they adjourn. If they don't, it will be next year.

Actually the only things that has to die is the antiquated blue laws and religous aspect. What about those whose religion falls on Sat.? They way it is now discriminates against then because they dont have a day on the weekend they can hunt.

Where is this group of saturday worshippers? And why hasn't a representative of this group come forth with their complaints? Why haven't they brought their concerns to the meetings?
