Farmers let's hear your thoughts

With all this talk on the Sunday hunting subject i would like to hear some thoughts from farmers or private land owners on the subject. How do you feel about it?

Re: Farmers let's hear your thoughts

I am unposted landowner that would post no hunting on sundays, its a day I can do what I want, where I want on my land... and I dont have to consider those who may be hunting. Not because of safety, just because of privacy. I do not farm. I spoke to 4/5 farmers i either lease or have prmission for waterfowl in Lebanon/Lancaster Co and ALL are not in favor of SH though 3/4 were amish/mennonites. The potential for SH to affect my waterfowl season concerns me too. just my 3cents...

Re: Farmers let's hear your thoughts

I do not make a large portion of my income from farming, but as my father in law died last Christmas, I have my hands full with 135 acres in Conneaut lake and my 150 acres in Meadville. Both have high numbers of hunters. I don't see any reason for Sunday hunting.
Most hunters are respectful and courteous but, between pulling stuck trucks out, searching for lost dogs, moving trucks parked on roads, answering phone calls about who's hunting , where and every thing else that goes with owning land I'm against it.
I've Just about had enough.

I have access to land and I agree with Jim. i need one day off as not have to worry bout hunters and the problems they get themselves into like tracking in the dark, trucks in the way and their and mine safety.

Re: Farmers let's hear your thoughts

Our farm was always open to hunting. We did post every inch of it when they started the doe slaughter years back, as did most of the other farms around us. Sunday hunting would not bother us a bit. My family may even get more of a chance to hunt with sunday hunting.

1 of 3 family members with three adjoining private parcels totalling +/- 285 acres....... all open to hunting 6 days a week.

ALL will be posted to hunting 7 days a week with the passage of HR1760. That's a promise.

Re: Farmers let's hear your thoughts

Now let me ask another question if i may? Not saying this will happen but what if a law was passed that allowed hunting on Sunday but only on private property, those that are opposed to this and say they need that extra day for not having to worry about trespassers on their land might find out that now they have to worry about folks coming up to their door asking for permission to hunt on Sunday

Re: Farmers let's hear your thoughts

For me it will be a hassle as it is every season. I have a waiting list now. Hunters don't like no for an answer and on occasion I can see they are looking past me and scoping ways to get on the property regardless of my permission. I won't even get into the trespassers it will be another day of running into them.
