Micheaux Rifle Range

Report on the ongoing haggle over the closed public rifle range in Micheaux SF. I believe this range was closed several years ago, due to complaints, littering and other problems.

Target Range Issues: Background Documents for Public Comment
Michaux State Forest will be accepting public comments on the Target Range Progress Report from October 15ľNovember 15. You may submit comments during this comment period by mail, email or in person.

Send letters to:
Bureau of Forestry, Forest District 1
10099 Lincoln Way
East Fayetteville, PA 17222-9609

Send email to: [email protected]

Attend a public meeting regarding the range on November 1, from 7-9:30 pm at the Buchanan Valley Firehall. Following a presentation on the range, those attending will be invited to provide input during a round-robin comment period facilitated by Bureau of Forestry staff.
Buchanan Valley Firehall is located on Route 234, 3 miles north of Route 30.

Please note: Input is being solicited on this issue to help inform the decision making process regarding the range by allowing interested stakeholders to share their perspectives, concerns, and ideas on the issue. Comments received will be summarized and characterized in a follow-up report. However, this is not a vote and tally system. Redundant and/or electronically automated submissions will be disregarded.

Target Range Report
This report summarizes the work of a task force assessing the feasibility of operating a safe and environmentally and economically sustainable public target range on the Michaux State Forest.

Target Range Baseline and Site Characterization Study
This study develops the objective baseline measures of lead and other contaminants associated with operating a target range site in the vicinity of Long Pine Run Reservoir.

Re: Micheaux Rifle Range

Yep, already had a post about this in the general forum. I asked if there were any takers to help with clean-up days if I would go in and present that HPA would help.....No takers. I guess no ones cares if it stays open or not

Todd will be happy. He gets all atwitter at the mere sight of a Micheaux post.

Thanks Vince, but in order for it to be viable, we need a few more. If nothing happens here at HPA you can still go to the meeting or write them a letter stating you would be interested in helping out.

Re: Micheaux Rifle Range

Maybe they can put up a sign if it opens again: Range maintained by HuntingPA.com members?

Re: Micheaux Rifle Range

That was my line of thinking although I would expect other groups to be included on the sign as well.

I am just really surprised that 10-15 from here wouldnt be able to help out.
