Bill providing equal retirement plan for Game Wardens

Rep. Keith Gillespie has pushed and passed House Bill 615. Here is the bills definition...https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs...&type=B&bn=615

Here is his Facebook page describing it as well...https://www.facebook.com/RepGillespi...type=3&theater

Apparently all we need is for Wolf to sign it. This is long past due!

Will they now be a part of the unsustainable pension fund that the rest of the state employees think they are going to get?

They already are, and have been, part of the pension fund. This bill merely recognizes them as law enforcement officers allowing them to reach full retirement with 20 years of service, the same as police officers, prison guards, etc. The normal retirement for the majority of state workers is 35 years of service (or 60 years of age if vested).

and again....the financial burden of the pension fund is the fault of the State legislature as they have voted, not to pay into it, as required by law for more than 10 years now. they kept kicking the can down the road. the only problem was, the road went in a circle and that can came back to hit them in the butt.

NOW...because of their illegal action on not paying into it, the pension fund is underfunded. the employees pay their share with every paycheck, the State has not paid their share for more than 10 years and now want to find a way to just abolish it and not be held accountable.

that will never happen. they can change the pension system but the State will still be on the hook for the underfunded part because it is law. the owe...they have to pay.
