Helping flood stricken youth

As we all know there has been a disaster here in PA with many families losing everything. I am sure folks have stepped up to help with basic needs for many in the flood areas but what about the items the youth need for hunting and fishing, items that have to go on the back burner for now.

I was trying to think of ways to meet those needs and ran the idea by a few of our members here on HPA. Denny F has been gracious enough to pass this idea on to many in his area, an area that was stricken by the floods.

He is working on the details with various clubs and outdoor organizations and when they are complete Iím sure he will post where items can be sent.

Here is where we all come in as members of the hunting and fishing fraternity, we all have items we donít use, have out grown or are just taking up space that could be used for a new toy. Please gather those items, no junk please, clean them up (especially clothes) and get them ready to send.

If you donít have anything and want to send a gift card I will ask Denny to post the shops in that area where a card can be used.

This is for the youth, to get them through this tough time so they can go out and hunt and fish, spend time doing something to get their minds off of the disaster they were just involved in that will be with them forever.

Mods, please post this where it will get the most attention.

A thanks to all that step up.

Any other ideas to help out?

Re: Helping flood stricken youth

One thing I have not seen here is: have any HPA members been hit by the flood and do they need help?

Re: Helping flood stricken youth

C'mon folks.

There are doubtless lots of kids out there this week, who have lost their hunting and fishing gear due to the flood and high water in many areas of PA?

Mom and dad will be busy with recovery and restoration and may not really have the time (or money) right now, to be able to worry about the kids' missing or destroyed outdoors stuff?

And in case someone hadn't noticed, Fall is coming quickly.

Re: Helping flood stricken youth

I've gathered some items at this past weekend's PFSC convention. Small, lined camo jacket; small FO camo insulated suit; FO foam cushion, some FO hats and several other things. Some of those donated items are new.

Plus some fishing rods.

If anyone knows of some kids that lost their "stuff" due to flooding and who can use these items, please PM me and we'll get 'em out where they're needed.
