Anti Drilling Groups and Their Backers

I understand that there is a conservative bias to this blog but...I spend a lot of time researching the groups behind the articles used to attack the gas industry. I also hear about how the environmental groups and antis can't compete with the big gas companies.
Long read but interesting research done to shed some light on this subject.

Re: Anti Drilling Groups and Their Backers

I'll move it down here, since it will get a bit more "notice"? And my reply, from earlier:

Quote:
"Main Stream Media" is fond of reporting about the foibles of and so-called mischief caused by "Big" this and that.

'Bout time someone shines a light on what Soros and his uber-wealthy leftist cronies are up to?

My initial skepticism with all the "global warming" hype, was primarily tied to the common political leanings of those in the vanguard of that movement: Socialists all, many of whom were also specifically anti-USA?

Now there is mounting evidence that the entire "global warming" movment was nothing but yet another scam, designed to foster more anti-capitalism sentiment?
Everyone is entitled to their own interpretations of what they read/hear on these subjects, but if you're only getting one side of the news, as is now more common than ever, then you may well have a different view?

Wealthy Liberals ? Why whoda thunk it ? As if "Gasland" doesn't smack of "Fahrenheit 9/11", "Bowling for Columbine" and the likes of whacko lib. Michael Moore.

Re: Anti Drilling Groups and Their Backers

Ya think?

Hey, I've been a registered Demonrat since I turned 21 and could vote. Forget why sometimes, but what the heck? Ya had to be one or the other here in PA, or no primary voting opportunity.

Got tired of the "rich vs poor" political garbage years ago. Might impress some voters, has no affect on me. Especially when stats consistantly have shown over the years, that wealthy elected Dems in Congress, generally outnumber wealthy Repubs.

More germane to the argument, is who enforces our environmental regs and looks out for those concerns, rather than who tries to make political hay out of those concerns?

Pretending to care, just for use as political "currency", doesn't count.

In PA, people of both parties enjoy our forest lands and are concerned about protecting them.

Re: Anti Drilling Groups and Their Backers

We are all concerned about the environment, neither political party can lay claim to that.

I draw the line about spreading misinformation in trying to get a full blown moratorium on all mineral extraction in PA, which is what the groups in that paper are trying to do. They prey on the fears of unsuspecting people that are not involved in the industry and blow small spills and issues way out of proportion. I guarantee that you have more surface spills from truck and rail accidents than you will ever see from the drilling industry. And, I'll say it again...downhole issues with gas migration and affected water wells happen very little in this industry although there are a great many people that have marginal water wells at best that see this as their opportunity to get a new well or city water run to their homes.
If the state sees that a company has affected or ruined a water supply the company, by law, must replace the old supply with as good as, or better supply ...(water buffaloes are not a permanent solution)

Re: Anti Drilling Groups and Their Backers

National Fuel Gas has announced that they are raising their delivered price by around 9.9%. Might mean the downward trend is beginning to reverse and things may perk up a bit?

that was a interesting read, thanks for posting it. is certainly interesting to see where some of the funding for the bogus articles comes from.
