Disposal of Hazardous Waste not the same in all 67 counties

Did you ever try to dispose of a TV. If your lucky your county has a program. Not all counties have a program. They have a web site that says contact a local business and they will accept TV.. The business no longer will take them. Not even for a fee. So the county even doesn't update their web site to reflect that for example Best Buy no longer will do this in a specific county..

Now let say Dauphin County has a program to dispose of TV for people living there... People from let say Cumberland County can't go over there with a TV and get rid of it.. I can't blame Dauphin County for this by the way.. So All 67 counties of Pa all should have the same kind of programs to dispose of old TV's. They don't!! that's how things like that get end up thrown into the wooded areas of this Penns Woods.

Counties do have one day a year they will take things like paint.. Think about it.. If you can't make it for that day in August.. You just can't take your paint until next year.. there are things to do to be able to get rid of paint. The worse thing is electronics... Counties.. all 67 need to do something about it and the state needs to intervene to make it happen that all 67 counties have a program for electronic disposal plan that is not a farce.

check with your local garbage pick up service.

i am in Erie County. Erie County Government has a electronic recycling center in Millcreek Twp. you have to schedule a drop off time and pay a fee. our County wide garbage collection company, Waste Management has a hazardous waste pick up program.

you call them, they send you a package which consists of a LARGE clear garbage bag and labels. what ever fits in the bag will be picked up free of charge, paint cans etc... should have all the original labels, if not, then you are to use the blank labels they provide and list whats in the can. THEY WILL CHECK and call you if they can not identify whats in the cans when they open them.

best program going. just have to wonder why the County wants to charge people instead of advertising this FREE program to help everyone.

look here, this is what waste management offers
