SB 737 Semi Auto Use

SB 737 (Semi Auto use) is also on the move. ¬-¬-

SB 737 Amends Title 34 (Game), in hunting and furtaking, further providing for unlawful devices and methods adding that semiautomatic rifle may be used to hunt game in accordance with regulations promulgated by the commission. (The PGC would have to implement regulations¬-specifying¬-when and where they can be used.)

This bill has support for final passage, however it is being bogged down by numerous amendments, most of which are not good for sportsmen. ¬-So when emailing/calling your Representative for support on SB 1166 and SB 1168, ask that they also support passage of SB 737 without amendments. ¬-

Re: SB 737 Semi Auto Use

Hoping a clean bill can move through. I have been continuing to put pressure on my elected officials to work to move Pa out of the dark ages when it comes to semi automatic and air power for hunting.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Any word on this bill? When I look up its history, it says that it was removed from the table on Sept. 21. I'm assuming that means it isn't moving anywhere?

Actually, the term means the opposite. A bill removed from the table is taken up for consideration.

Re: SB 737 Semi Auto Use

Appears that most current bills involving our outdoors interests have been stalled again, although there is some hope they'll see some action in October.

Same old story.

Semi use, license increases to fund our agencies, leashed tracking dogs and some other issues, never seem to get much attention from those elected to represent us?

Re: SB 737 Semi Auto Use

Almost every attempt at making changes in how we hunt here, is "too controversial", according to some?

Things that have been SOP in most other states for years, seldom stand a chance of becoming accepted here in PA.

All it takes to maintain the status quo here, is a bit of resistance in the Legislature, from some segment of our fellow hunters, or from some special interest group.

Re: SB 737 Semi Auto Use

Again, too "hot" for most legislators to handle.

Maybe I'll be proved wrong.

Don't see a problem allowing PGC to regulate semi auto use but its not a pressing issue.
