Public Land Access

Public land access is an important issue for hunters. We have federally owned land here in PA - the Allegheny National Forest. But the issue really affects the western states which I hope to hunt someday soon.

There's a lot of confusing information, but I put something together that sheds light on the core of the issue. Let me know what you think. I would like to know everyone's thoughts on the issue.

Re: Public Land Access

Read something about this in "Outdoor Life" or "Field and Stream" a couple of months ago. Sounds like a push to decrease Federal spending and saddle the states with that expense. At that point I'm sure some state legiscritters will push to sell off or trade some of the land with an eye on making a profit, possibly to a "fatcat" friendly lobbyist.
Several of our legiscritters have already said that the DCRN and PA GC can't afford to develop? the land they are charged with now so they shouldn't buy anymore. Others want DCNR and GC to pay more as Payment in Lu of Taxes.
