Event at Middle Creek
I don't know how many of you know but the Conservation Officers Of Pennsylvania (COPA) a Fraternal Organization comprised of both active and retired fish and game officers are raising money to build a PA conservation history museum, which will be attached to the visitors center at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area. One of our fund raising efforts has been selling raffle tickets for the last several months. The drawing for the raffle will be on Saturday March 10, 2018 at the visitors center at Middle Creek. There will be a display inside the visitors center of many of the items that will be put on display in the museum once it is built. There are ten items in the raffle, one of them is a hand made flintlock long rifle made by Game Commissioner Charles Fox and it is a rifle anyone would be proud to own and hunt with. There will be a food truck providing breakfast sandwiches, coffee and the like as well as lunch, hot dogs burgers and sandwiches drinks etc. The tickets are ten dollars each and will be available prior to the drawing. All the raffle items will also be on display for everyone to see. If you don't have plans for the 10th of March take a drive to Middle Creek and take a look at some of the items that were part of Pennsylvania's conservation history and support the building of a museum that will highlight Pennsylvania's important role in the Conservation history. The time for the event will be from 8 am to 4 pm. I am not sure what time the drawing will be going off but I will post it here when I know.
We also will be holding a 5 or 10 K race at Middle Creek on September 22, 2018 as a fund raiser for the museum. The race is still in the planning stages and I will provide more information as it becomes available If any of you are runners come out and run or just come out to support the building of the museum.
When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!
