Stripers in the Upper Chesapeake

Fished today in the upper Chessy from shore. Today was the opening day. Got bass of 33", 30" and 22". Can only keep 1 over 28" but kept the 33 and 22 for the grill. Saw a decent # of fish caught

Very upper bay near where Deer Creek enters the Susquehanna. Also caught an American Shad
a big carp and a small flat head catfish.

OK, you were on the flats. I used to do a lot of fishing there. I had some really good evenings fishing across from the VA hospital.

Got a keeper at same spot on Saturday and my limit of 2 today. I lost a real nice one today trying to beach it. Water was dirty today but the fish were still hitting.

Still lots of stripers in the upper bay. Got 2 @ 24" from shore on Thursday. Friday took the boat out and we had a 3 man limit from 31 to 23" in a half hour. Not sure how much longer this will last.

From the boat I chum with bunker and fish bunker chunks on a fish finder rig with a #5 or 6 in line circle hook. In line circle hooks are required this year. Guys do well live lining white perch, eels or blue gills. Blood worms work great but get expensive.
For lures I like plastics like the zoom super fluke in white ice. Also SP minnows work well.

Tried a new spot from shore in the same general area I've been going and got 4 stripers, a 17" walleye, a 15"ish small-mouth bass I released, a big channel cat I gave to another fisherman and a 23" flat head. Kept the walleye, flat head and a 23" striper. Great sun rise and saw an eagle catch a shad!
