Exclamation Hatteras NC power issue

Any one heading to Hatteras area note a power line was hit at the new Bonner bridge area and they are on backup power with roving blackouts and may be from days to a week fixing!!

A steel piling driven into a power cable big enough to power a whole island.
That must have been a scene.

I wouldn't even think of living or spending any great deal of time on a barrier island without a 2nd source of power.

Hopefully everyone with medical needs dependent on electricity were evacuated safely.

Guess all the renters get screwed like with hurricanes and forced evacuations, but they can't call this a act of god, even if the machine operator was Mexican and named Jesus

Why i always pay for the trip insurance. In 9 years we have used it 3 times. 2 evacuations and a medical issue.

All visitors are required to evacuate. They are only letting residents, business owners, and lease owners on the island. Ocracoke island has been totally evacuated. They shut down the mainland to Ocracoke ferry. Some rentals are refunding, some are giving vouchers fro future stays, and a few aren't giving anything back from what I heard. The above restrictions apply to everything from the Bonner bridge south.

I gotta go agitate the techies!
