Gloucester Haddock on the Tuna.com

We traveled over to Gloucester for what for year had been our annual "fill the freezer" trip, with the crew on the Tuna.com of Wicked Tuna Fame.

But, with the govt shutting down cod fishing the last few years, we hadn't made the trip in a few.

The fleet has re focused on the haddock fishing and the action was just non stop.
We did not go a minute between bites and filled the boat with tasty haddock and Pollack.

Tuna.com Dave was in Italy on a fishing trip, so we fished with Sandro and Geordie.
Glad we got back out there and had at it again.

I even drove the boat in while the guys cleaned the catch.

Looks like a great trip!
We used to make an annual trip with the Yankee Fleet before the cod fishing started going down hill. The two day trip to Georges Banks was fantastic. Two days of deep water jigging. 16-18 oz. Viking or Diamond Jig with a teaser 3 feet above the jig. Lots of double headers. Most of the fish were 8-10 pounders but on one trip I landed a 20 and 30 lb double header. The trip was a real freezer filler.
Works up an appetite for a great meal in Nantucket while the boat refuels, then back to George's Banks before day break.
We would make the trip mid July, and it was always cook and wet at the Banks.
