Phiadelphia Delaware River Fishing

Retired avid fisherman from the Hbg area where I fished the Susq River all the time and also the Susq Flats. No longer have a boat but am interested in striper fishing in the area. Have tried several times bank fishing at the airport and the Fairmont Dam on the Schuykill River with little success. Any info appreciated and if anyone is interested in a fishing buddy I would split expenses.

Don't know what part of Philly your in but I would make a trip to Brinkmans at Lyndon Ave. I would see if he has a message board or something, he also has a great website with a fishing report for most of SE PA.

Re: Phiadelphia Delaware River Fishing

Two weekends ago I was crossing the Tacony Bridge and there was about a dozen boats fishing along the shoreline on the Jersey side. I think there is a park on right hand side of the bridge going into Jersey.
Thing you need to check in about is I think Jersey considers the channel as their boundary and if you fish from land or launch your boat from Jersey, you need a Jersey license.

As stated earlier, Bruce at Brinkmans has good bait and current information on what is happening.
We use to fish the river back by the waterworks on the river, I think that can be accessed from where the fire academy is on State Road, and where the Pennypack creek dumped into the river and did well at high tide.
Another place that has good access is where the Neshaminy Creek meets the Delaware river up in Croydon , that was a good musky spot but this was going back 20 years ago.

Good Luck

You can fish shore to shore with a PA license.

They use the state boundary only for hunting.

Re: Phiadelphia Delaware River Fishing

I think if you are fishing from a boat you can fish shore to shore but if you launch and return to Jersey or stand on their shore you need a Jersey license.

When I fish the Delaware bay since my boat is docked in Jersey I need to follow the Jersey season and size and limit rules, even if all my fish were caught on the Delaware side of the bay.
This year they have different rules for upper Jersey Delaware Bay anglers too. Since I am in Cape May county I need to follow the larger fish rules like the rest of NJ, while the upper bay ports can keep shorter fish.
Since the OP said he was looking to fish from .the shore I just thought he should check into it.

I figured the islands in the middle of the river Jersey would try and get their hooks into hunting.

I think your right about the boat.

Just an FYI: The Delaware state line extends up to the high tide line on the Jersey shore. If your fishing the river down there you need a Delaware license.

They don't make things easy.
