Anyone ever booked a fly fishing trip in the spring for red fish ? I'm thinking of going and just hit the local bar to find a guide. To risky?

Re: Louisiana red fish

ummm...yeah. I wouldn't book something with a guy at a bar in LA....

If you want to go to Louisiana to fish, I'd go all in and book a combo trip to Venice and get some inshore and offshore fishing in while you are down there. Near shore (not far from South Pass) tuna bite is in the winter but the offshore fishing is great most of the year.

Re: Louisiana red fish

Me personally, I wouldn't go to LA to fish for redfish specifically (inshore). I would go to fish inshore and then offshore but then again, I had my fill of redfish when I lived in TX for 2 years. They sure are fun but, you can catch them readily, at the right time of year, on the east coast and it is much closer.
