I'll be down last week of August and first week of Sept this year. I typically catch a nice buzz but not a lot of fish.

Don't Tread On Me is what it says and I'll take that to my grave.

We used to do very good in the surf down there, but the last 5-6 years, about all we have caught is a nice buzz as well.

Except for when we go offshore. That is a different world out there.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Re: OBX surf help

Been fishing down there since I was old enough to hold a pole. It's gotten a lot harder to go after the bigger stuff since they restricted what part of the beach you can access. That being said though you should be able to fill your bucket every day. I always check the fishing reports from The Red Drum's website, it's a greAt resource. The beach between Frisco and Hateras are good early morning spots. The jetties at the light house are good but crowded. If you can get out to the point you can usually slam the blues if your early enough. Talk to the tackle shops though, they will tell you where to go, and what they are hitting on.

You can't kill anything sitting on the couch.

No doubt better fishing down towards Hatteras. We usually stay up in South Nags Head and fish from there down to around Oregon Inlet. We would catch plenty to keep us happy from June through September. The last 5- years, it has been tough. Even snapper blues are hard to come by from the surf for us.
