Raystown Stripers

Anyone doing any striper fishing at Raystown? I have lost touch with the lake a little since I got married a few years ago. Used to fish it all the time, it was a lot easier learning where the fish were. Will be heading out in less than two weeks but am not sure where the fish are at this time of year. If you can shed some light on which area of the lake they are located that would be a big help. In the past I had luck dropping bait down to fish hanging above the trees at the north end of the lake, but this has been an odd year for weather.

Re: Raystown Stripers

Was there on Monday, mostly to try the boat out after making some motor adjustments. Did drag some live bait around at the area of the dam. Nothing doing, but there were several guide boats in the area.

Went no farther south than the 3 marker, no guide boats there.

Did talk to a guy at the launch that was getting off as I was launching, said he had been out all night had caught one about 10#, said things were real slow right now.Said he was going to wait till the water temp dropped some, 77 degree's on my unit at 7am.

I am surprised the water temp is still so high. Oh well, the trip is booked, maybe in two weeks it will be better. Thanks for the info.

Yes I was surprised too,I'm leaving for the lake on the 29th for a month and would like to see high 50's to the low 60's. even cooler wouldn't hurt.

Re: Raystown Stripers

Did you make the trip yet?

I just called a friend that's on the lake right now, said the water surface temp is 69 degrees.

He's a bass fisherman, said he had just released a 4-lb largemouth.

I'll know more about the striper fishing after Monday the 29th. Won't be able to post anything on here though ,no internet access in the campground.

Re: Raystown Stripers

We got back on Sunday. The water temp was 68-69 depending on time of day. We fished across from Nancy's Camp, trolled alewife at 18'. That was the magic number, caught fish from 10-17#s.

Got home from the lake on Oct 27th, we were there for 26 days, boated 21 striper in the 7 lb to 11 lb range one that was 18 lb. Fished live bait at 17-20 ft only targeted striper for about 2hrs a day then turned to crappie huntin.
