Anybody have tips for surf fishing OBX first week of October? I have an opportunity to go for practically nothing(just gas and food).I haven't been there in 6 or 7 years, and I always went in the summer. Avon-Buxton area.I just don't know if I want to give up my first week of bowhunting! But I could use a break from everything around home, and I still have the last 2 weeks of bow season off. Somebody help me make up my mind!!

Re: OBX,October

Definitely better than summer fishing. Should be lots of Taylor Blues in the surf. October is prime for specks in the wash and larger red drum will start cruising the beach as well.

We used to go late September into early October. Weather is still generally nice, the crowds are gone and the fishing is much better.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!
