Does anyone fish Sandbridge Va

We are heading to Sandbridge Va in a week and was wondering if anyone can give me any info on set ups and bait to use. I have tried squid and fake bloodworms but had no luck. This is only the second year I have tried surf fishing.

This is funny that you are asking about this as I was just about to post a thread looking for the same info(we are heading down next week as well). I have done well surf fishing in the OBX and at Myrtle, just curious about the Virginia Beach/Sandbridge area as this is our first time there.

Re: Does anyone fish Sandbridge Va

OK, I am back from the family vacation to Sandbridge. The fishing in the area was pretty interesting. For those that are unfamiliar there is plenty of surf fishing available but there is also the Back Bay which is more like fishing a lake around here. I did not have any type of boat for the Back Bay but I was able to catch quite a few largemouths from the areas I was able to access from shore. The surf fishing wasn't bad either! I am by no means an expert surf fisherman but I was able to reel in a dozen or so fish from the surf using bloodworms. Most of the fish that I caught in the surf were small red drum. I was also able to reel in a few black drum and one pompano. I really didn't even fish that much on the trip but for the limited time I did I was able to catch quite a few fish, both salt and freshwater!

Awesome! You did better than I did in the Nags Head Surf in June.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Re: Does anyone fish Sandbridge Va

Sorry this is a little late for you needs. My family had gone down there about 10 years in a row about 10 years back. We would also go to the pier at the end of sandbridge. It was always very nice and could catch a lot of different fish;Spot, Flounder, Blues, spanish mac, puppy drum, its been know to produce cobia off the end and some other big drum. But from the surf we could alwasy catch spot or blues from a top and bottom rig. I hope this helps for the next time you go down.
