Re: Eastern PA preserve, hog hunt reccomendations

Don't have any preserve recommendations, but he may want to look into going down south for a wild hog hunt. The cost difference really isn't that much.

My son and I are going to GA on a guided hunt in June. GA has a similar MY program so my son does not need a license to hunt. He is only 10.

Just to give you an example for my son and I for a 4 day hunt it will cost us about $550 each. If we had a couple more in our group it would about $450 each. This includes lodging but no food.

I believe that most preserves are at least this much if not more to kill one hog. The hunt above is unlimited although since they are wild there is no guarantees.

Anyway just a thought.

Traditions only last if you pass them down to your kids!

Tioga is NOT at the top of my "recommend" list.

Best preserve hunt anywhere. The animals are wild and true wild boar, not farm hogs. The hunting land is huge and you WILL hunt hard for them. I went with my girlfriend for her first hunt and we will be going back as it was as realistic as any "wild" hunt I've been on.

Thank you for posting this information. I have hunted wild boar a number of times, mostly in Florida but also Texas and two preserve hunts, Tioga in Pennsylvania and Hillside in Aurora Maine. I too would like to do a hunt that isn't too far from home. One of my concerns is that the hunt would be too easy. I don't want to shoot a hog that was just let out of the pen. It seems like that type of hunting is growing. There are many places in Florida where trapped feral boar are put in a fenced in area and shot for a fee.
