Need Recommendation: Bear Outfitter/Guide

So, I took my son to Quebec and did a bear hunt over bait. We sat for 6 days and saw nothing. We had a great time, but we have unfinished business. And I feel like I let him down.

Can anyone recommend a good outfit with high success rates that's within driving distance of PA? Maine would be good. Ontario and parts of Quebec are do-able too.

I'd love to do Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Alaska, etc...but we're looking for a reasonable hunt that we can drive to.

Thanks.

I'm going on a hunt in Quebec next year with Blue Walleye Outpost. Talked to the owner/guide and several past clients and all had multiple shot oppurtunities with about a 95% success rate. It is 13 hours from Pittsburgh but I really like what I heard from him. Last year they went 16 for 18 on bears with the other two wounding bears he also does not count a wounded bear a your kill so you can continue to hunt even if you cannot find a bear which is hit.

Thanks. I'll check them out. Our outfitter said they were 90% kill and 97% sighting. They did get 5 out of 7 bears the week we were there. The 6th guy wounded one. We were the 7th. I guess we just suck.

Thanks. How long is the season? Is that the last week? Since this hunt is for my 10 year old son, I kinda have to work around school.

I like the idea of a hound hunt. I'd love to hear all about it. Should be more exciting than spending countless hours in a tree stand.

Re: Need Recommendation: Bear Outfitter/Guide

I hunted with Katahdin Valley Outfitters in Sherman Maine. Went 3 years and saw bears every year. Killed one on the last trip. He's had a good season this year. 3 in the first week of bait and at least 5 since dog season started. He's on this website also. Steve Nissley is the guide. Any questions feel free to send me a PM or email me.

Check out foggymountain.com...they are from Sebec, Maine.

Wayne has been in the bear hunting for about 45 years.
