MIssouri outfitter help

A group of us (3-5) are planning on taking an archery whitetail hunt in 2013 or 2014. We would like to get the ball rolling on deposits and getting it paid for. We are planning on one of the first two weeks of November. The two outfitters J&S trophy hunts and Windy Ridge outfitters. Any help would be appreciated. We are looking for 6 day hunt if possible trying to stay around 3k or less. Can you reccommend any other outfitters that are over the counter? Thanks

Re: MIssouri outfitter help

I am partial but have been hunting with J&S virtually every year since 1992. I don't consider anything else for midwest whitetails at the moment. Last 3 Missouri bucks last 3 years were 154-176-152 and it keeps getting better there year after year. If he could keep the gun hunters (no knock against them) from shooting the little ones it would be awesome. I am doing a Missouri/Iowa back to back with him this year if I draw the Iowa tag. PM me if you have any questions.

Re: MIssouri outfitter help

Just found out I drew my Iowa tag for this year and firmed up my plans with Donna at J&S this afternoon for my Missouri/Iowa combo. I can't reccommend J&S highly enough and know more than I probably should about some others which is why I keep going back to Steve Shoop. I know exactly what to expect year after year - I know the quality of the deer he has there and also how hard they work to get you in the right spot to actually kill the deer and not just say you saw it. This is particularly important if you are bowhunting.

Re: MIssouri outfitter help

I actually had some deposits in a couple years back so the Iowa hunt is costing me $3000 for 6+ days fully guided. I say 6 plus as they often will get you out in the stands the day you get there and sometimes the last morning for a couple hours on their changeover day which is Friday's. Basically you hunt 6 full days - Sat-Thurs but might catcch a Fri evening to start.

Re: MIssouri outfitter help

I also thought of doing a Iowa/Missouri 2 week hunt at some point. And throw in Kansas/Illinois for the grand hunt. Thanks for the info...

Re: MIssouri outfitter help

Now that would be a cool way to spend a month. I met a guy one year while hunting in Iowa that was from Virginia and he started sometime in October and hunted for something like 8-9 weeks or so going state to state. He was pretty obsessed with whitetail hunting and was a self employed contractor who set up his business such that he ccould get that much time away.
