Re: Africa Archery hunt

I paid $1313.00 for my airfare and the trip was worth every penny I spent. I'm headed back over this coming April and am excited to try to harvest those ghostly kudu that got away the first trip.

Re: Africa Archery hunt

Right now the airfare is a bit more at around $1500.00 but seems to be going down a little bit. Didn't get airline ticket yet in hopes it will go down some more.

Re: Africa Archery hunt

There are good deals to be had , bow hunting is mostly done in the Limpopo province of South Africs. There are some outfits in Namibia that offer bow hunting. I would advise going to the Eastern Sports and outdoor show to meet as many outfitters in person as possible. Some are better than others. Went over in 2007,2009,and going again this year.
rifle, bow and xbow all were a blast and my wife shot her first animal ever. Be careful Africa is ADDICTIVE !!!!!
Whatever you pay for the hunt figure the same for taxidermy, shipping, incidentals etc . and then add your airfare and you should get a good estimate of total cost.
The hunt you described would probably finish in the $7,000
which roughly equates to an out west elk or mule deer hunt.

Re: Africa Archery hunt

Look at it this way. There are things you can do in southern Africa that you can't do anywhere else, and the cost is reasonable if you compare it to a western elk or moose hunting trip. On the western trip you might get to see a nice elk or moose. On the African trip you will see boatloads of game.

Re: Africa Archery hunt

I saw 10 different species the first day before noon! Instantly hooked on Africa. Going to take my grandson as soon as he's mature enough. Anyone that goes there will be blown away by the amount of game. It's also very challenging as the kudu eluded my friend and I all week. We saw well over a 100 kudu and still didn't get to harvest one and we were both using rifles. My brother however was able to take this one with a bow.

Dollar for dollar Africa is well worth the monies you put into it. Can't wait to get back this April, counting the days! As a wise man once said "Once you have tasted the waters of Africa you must drink again". He wasn't kidding!
