I am looking to go to Newfoundland for a Moose hunt. After years of no luck in the draw in Maine and New Brunswick I am looking to drive to Newfoundland for Moose. I have done some research and talked to some outfitters any good recommendation?
If you don't have time to do it right. When do you have time to do it again?
Of course it depends upon what you want in a moose hunt, but I believe you will enjoy one in Newfoundland. For a whole lot less than you would have to spend in either British Columbia or Alaska where you can take really nice trophy moose, you can do a moose hunt in Newfoundland and even combine it with woodland caribou and/or black bear. There are some outfitters that offer really top quality hunts in Newfoundland. Here are a couple of places I have friends who have hunted and give them excellent ratings.
The first is highly recommended by some friends from Harrisburg. http://www.longrangemountain.com/
This second one was refered to me by a guy I hunted with who took a Boone and Crockett caribou. http://www.hunting-newfoundland.com/
I've been up there once hunting the Long Range Mountains with West Woods Outfitters. Took a caribou , moose, and bear. You will have a great trip up there if you decide to go. A great part of the trip is getting there. Info below if you decide to check Stewart out. I'd have no problem booking with West Woods again. Great guides, food, and lots of game. Best of luck!
