Back from Deerfield

Loridr and I returned yesterday from our annual (at least for the past three years) hunt at Deerfield Plantation in South Carolina. The weather did not cooperate for the first three days, being way too hot for the deer to do much moving during the day, but it improved for the last two days after a front moved through. The old saying that your luck can change in five seconds proved true. The last evening, the hunters took ten deer, eight of which were bucks. I am appending a photo of myself and two friends with our bucks taken that evening. From left: the Mutt, a friend of ours from New York, Gene Carlson, and Loridr.

This is the third consecutive year in which I have taken two bucks at Deerfield. I guess I will have to go back one more time, right?

Looks like it would be a a fun hunt with friends. Good pic. Think I'd have to venture back down!

We're heading down next week. What do you think we can expect? How were the hogs?

Re: Back from Deerfield

I have been seriously considering a hunt down there. Anyone who has been there, if you could PM me I would appriciate it. Just looking for some insight on total costs, what to expect, etc...

Hogs are a sometime thing, Chesco. As to what you can expect, I suspect that the rut will still be in full swing. If the weather is cool to cold, lots of activity during the daytime. If not, not so much. There are still a bunch of nice bucks there.
