Wild Boar hunt 29th and 30th of December!!!

I just booked my first Wild boar hunt! I did some research and found that Tioga wild boar preserve (Tioga, Pa) is offering a $375 boar hunt. I'm taking my 16 year old brother (the punk got his first deer this year too and I can't wait to tell him about it. Any past experiences or stories would be great to hear!

Chris

A buddy of mine went there as well and he said that he felt guilty killing a hog there.

Took both my sons, they were 9 and 12 at the time. Both got boars but it wasn't for me. You won't need 2 days, maybe 2 hours.

You already have it booked so I sincerely hope you have a good time. Preserve hunts are what they are and some people enjoy them. Worst thing that can happen is you'll kill a hog and have some good eating. You'll make up you own mind about whether you want to do it again.

If you find that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and you still want to kill a truly wild hog, there are lots of places in the south where you can do that. If you want I can hook you up with my outfitter in South Carolina. His mid-winter hog hunts are very successful and at a good price. The hunts are priced per day with food and accomodations, not per animal. 3 day minimum. You can take 2 hogs per day if you’re lucky enough to see em (one per sitting), and again, the mid-winter hunts have a very high success rate.

Loridr is correct. The meat is great also. If you can forgo the gun and use a bow I would go that route. Have a good time.
PS. You paying? You're a good brother..

Re: Wild Boar hunt 29th and 30th of December!!!

I have said that it's a canned hunt to begin with but being Wild boar hunting is new to the both of us, whatda gonna do. Yes I already booked the hunt and yes I'll be paying. I think what it truly comes down to in the end is seeing my younger brothers face light up with smiles and hear him having a good time. One day I won't be on this earth and I want to know when I die that I was the best big brother I could ever be...

I have to admit I've never felt guilty killing an animal. I had to slit a deer neck to put him out of his misery, never felt bad then...

Would you mind posting your outfitter's name and address loridr? I am interested in a hog hunt myself that doesn't use livestock hogs. Thanks
