Who is the best guide that you ever hunted with?

Thought this would be a nice discussion topic. The best guide I ever hunted with is Roger Lewis of Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada. I hunted with Roger 6 or 7 times so far. He has such a positive outlook on things that it is contagious. You can't help but hunt harder just by being with him. He's also one of those guys who just has the knack for finding animals, and we have found a few together. I was the first person to hunt with that outfitter who got a Newfoundland Grand Slam- a moose, a bear and a caribou on the same trip. Roger and I have done that three times now. Roger is very knowledgeable about the woods and if I were lost and had to survive, he's the guy I'd want to be with. Every time you hunt with Roger is a learning experience. He likes to have a good time. He is a cancer survivor and has a very philosophical outlook on life. A hunt with Roger is not only a hunt, but a therapy session and a soul cleansing. You come back home ready for life. Most of all Roger is a genuine person. He tells you like it is and whatever he tells you, you can take it to the bank. Finally, he is my friend. What can be better than hunting with a good friend? Who is the best guide that YOU have ever hunted with?

Erwin Clark from Broken Arrow Outfitters, Montana. You will not find a more pleasant, knowledgeable, and hard working guide in the industry.

Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but I'm gonna say my dad... JBMJR
Myself, friends, and family have killed hundreds of deer (many nice buck), turkey, and bear from his set ups and time spent in the woods!
(SRY, didn't look where we were posting).... But still..

Eric of Wytetail Acres LLC in German, NY.

Just kidding, I sold WTA in 2008, it's out of business. Now just a private hunting camp.

Grant Midtdal. He guided for other outfits, but had his own outfit near Westerose, Alberta (west of Edmonton). Grant has disappeared from the face of the earth. I tried to locate him when I was putting the finishing touches on my second book, but even his relatives and close friends have no idea where he is.
Grant could walk the legs off anyone. It was typical for us to cover eight to ten miles a day, most of it being in Alberta bush, and I know he was taking it easy with me. He knew his game better than most guides I have been with, and was a pleasure to be around.

Grant was one of the strongest normal sized people I have ever seen. He probably was about 5'10" and weighed about 175 pounds, but I witnessed him picking up two hind quarters (no, not at the same time) from a huge moose and holding them for me to tie the ropes to a barn beam. He packed each quarter out of the bush. I struggled with one front quarter and had to make two trips.
I hunted elk and moose with Grant four times and would do it again for sure.

Steve Shoop and Jeff Dungeon of J & S Trophy Hunts in Iowa and Missouri. These guys know whitetails inside and out as a primary business and I have been fortunate to also hunt elk on a personal basis with both also and they just plain know how to hunt and get on animals. I hunted elk with Steve in Arizona, he looked at a couple topo maps, picked a couple likely looking spots from the maps on land we never set foot on and we were into elk everywhere we went. For whitetails few better - when Steve talks deer, I'm listening.

Only ever hunted with one, but Jack Hume Adventures in Quebec was an amazing outfit. The logistics involved in having 30 hunters scattered over thousands of square miles was mindblowing, and they handled it without a hitch. Not to mention the trouble and expense they went through to move hunters who weren't in animals.
