Montana - waiting for the draw

As I wait for the 4/15 Montana Elk draw results, I sit here with my head-in-hands trying to make a decision on which outfitter to select. This will be my first trip west and first time using an outfitter. The reaserch I have done on what areas to hunt and outfitters in each location seems endless. However, I have narrowed it down to three outfiiters, and spoken to two of them at the eastern outdoor show. Referneces are next on the list. The outfitter I am leaning towards is Wayne Hill Outfitters,in Noxon MT. I would apperiate any input on this group and/or first timers heading west. (BTW I have been training).

Re: Montana - waiting for the draw

Good Luck, I have never missed getting tags except buck antelope one year. This is the first year where everyone has to put in for the draw, so it should be interesting. Hope it works out in your favor, nothing like Montana in the fall. PM me if you need any info.

I love Montana! Use to hunt the Scapegoat Wilderness until marriage and kids got in the way! We used an Outfitter out of Ovando and did all drop camps! Killed Elk 3 out of 4 times during the early rifle! Tried to convince my wife to go again since my sister lives in Helena and we can visit family but she didn't buy it! Good Luck to you!

Baxter I have hunted with Wayne twice and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

A haiku is just like a normal American poem, except it doesnt rhyme and is totally stupid.

Wayne runs a good outfit, I had one of his former guides as a client last year. I think he does only lodge hunts but i could be wrong about that.
