Western Elk Hunt

Hello,
I have been a memeber on here for awhile but dont post much. 3 of us are looking to go out west on an elk hunt. It would be me, my brother and my dad. My question is does anyone have any information on good outfitters out west. Maybe someone that they have used in the past. We are looking for a traditional rifle hunt with pack hourses, wall tent etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Western Elk Hunt

TwoBear We are looking at MT,CO,ID. We would like to be able to hunt the rut with rifles but thats not a deal breaker. I was actually looking at your outfitter yesterday. I even tried calling Alan but the line was busy. What we are really looking for is a hunt with good quality people and hard working guides. In my eyes thats all you can ask for.

Re: Western Elk Hunt

Caribou, I am Alan, I am the owner. Give me a call at 406-375-8453. I've got some Pennslyvania boys coming out for archery this year. Even if you decide we are not the outfitter for you, I can still help you with some others and try and get you on a good hunt. Sorry about the busy line, I thought I had call waiting, lol. I guess I better look into that.

Re: Western Elk Hunt

I hunted unit 25 in Wyoming last fall with this outfitter - great hunt. It was a rifle hunt during the first week of October - bulls were bugling and my dad and I both got 6X6 bulls. You'll need to get at least one preference point (application due in June), then apply for the tag the following year. The owner/outfitter has a small operation, and he's interested in high quality hunts that will generate repeat customers. My dad and I were the only hunters he had for the 2010 season, and we'd go back again the next time we draw tags there. Feel free to contact me for any additional info.
