combo whitetail predator hunt

thinking about taking my son on a hunt for high school graduation.

i would like it to be fair chase, 150 class whitetail and predator hunt.

thinking of texas because i can use my AR for yotes and stuff, he would be hunting the deer and both of us would be hunting predators.

any thoughts? any luck on this type of hunt? prices?

Thanks

Re: combo whitetail predator hunt

Start by getting the "150" whitetail out of your vocabulary..It's not a good thing to base a trip on. While most outfitters with ample property have these kind of deer roaming on their leases, none of them are going to tell you "Sure, you'll get a shot at one". 120-130 would be more realistic, and if you see a 150, all the better, just don't count on it..

As for the predator part of it, I see numerous coyotes every time I go out to either Wyoming or Montana...I even see them sitting along field roads and such, but it's all up to you and your partner how much you want to intrude into the whitetail hunt..We catch coyotes out all day long, not just a nighttime proposition.Bobcats are often in the mix as well.

Prices....For what you are interested in, probably figure that you would be going as a "spotter", so you wouldn't expect to pay for a full deer hunt, I'd say 4K total for the lad and maybe 1K for yourself.

Hunted with Krooked River Ranch in Texas a few years ago and had a blast. It was a predator/wild boar combo that a bunch of us went on in February.

They were a first class operation.Nice cabins and lodge. The food was great.

Just checked out their website and they have youth hunt prices. But there are trophy fees added to that.

New thought:

i would like to (if i can afford it) use an outfitter / ranch that has donated to Hunt of a lifetime.

Re: combo whitetail predator hunt

I dont know of any outfitters that advertise combo hunts for deer and predator, its usually two different seasons of hunting. If the hunt is for your kid and your on some what of budget there is some good deer hunting in ohio. your best bet would be to find a deer hunting outfit that you like the most and ask them what they could do for you for predators.
