Spring Gobbler Hunt -VA or MD

Due to a heavy work schedule I am not going to do much Turkey hunting in PA in May. Looking for an outfitter or area to hunt in MD or VA. Any of you guys have some good experiences down south?

Thanks

Virginia is the best place in the east to hunt either deer or turkeys...I would suggest Back Creek Mountain in Bath County...I've always done well there.

Is that an Outfitter?
I would be interested in a "down south" hunt for Gobblers!

No, it's public land ..It is huge and it has some great hunting!..It's right along the West Virginia border...A dirt road goes out along the top of this mountain for 24 miles.....Plenty of room, I promise!..You access it near Warm Springs Va.

Re: Spring Gobbler Hunt -VA or MD

I've done public land turkey hunts in MD and VA. The worst experience I ever had turkey hunting was in the Savage River area of MD. It was over run with hunters and they didn't care if someone else was on a bird or not. It was actually a dangerous situation.

I hunted western VA near Hot Springs and it was much better. They have some serious mountains down there and the George Washington Nat'l Forest is big which helps spread out the pressure. I though it was funny but most of the trucks parked along the USFS roads had PA plates.

Good luck.

Hey larry n Ken,I have also hunted Bath county and Back creek moutain. I hunted from Hidden Valley campground. Always had action and the fishing was great. Weekdays Youll have it all to your self, weekends it gets mighty crowded.
