Newfoundland moose outfitter suggestion

I have a question about a Moose hunt. Do you have any good guides in Newfoundland? AWe are considering a hunt next year. I don't think Maine is ever going to happen for me!!!

I just booked an October 2016 hunt with Red Indian Lake Outfitters. I also talked to some folks about Parsons Pond Outfitters and heard good things about them too.

This will be our 4th year with Leslie Lake Outfitters. Great country and guides. Spike camps get you out into areas that don't get much pressure. Food at camp is incredible; lobster and crab legs once a week, then Seafood chowder the next day.

Be good, and you will be lonesome.

Re: Newfoundland moose outfitter suggestion

Newfie is an incredible adventure and no matter where you go you will have a blast. I hunted with West Woods Outfitters on the Long Range Mountains near the south western part of the island. My brother and I both completed the Newfie Slam (caribou, bear, and Moose) and our other hunter got his moose and bear. One thing to keep in mind if you are looking for a better than average moose is getting away from the road system. Not that there aren't big moose near the roads as I witnessed on the first day of my hunt. There are simply way more mature bulls when you get isolated. I saw a lot of bear and won't hunt the island again without a bear tag too. Best of luck in your search and with the lottery in Maine. IMO your making a great choice in Newfoundland! Good huntin'

Re: Newfoundland moose outfitter suggestion

Bryan,

I know this thread is getting old but George and I, and two of Georges friends, are booked for a Sept 2016 moose hunt with:

I can't comment on the outfitter as we've never used them before but it is a remote hunt, fly-in only. Our camp is booked as it only accommodates 4, but she has two other camps in the general area.
